What a tossing waste

Greg Dyke was the best thing to happen to the BBC in ages. And now he's gone.

a) I hope the government are proud of themselves.
b) Handy timing for taking over as chairman of ITV eh?

What a waste of talent. THe man was a breath of fresh air among the usual faceless ones who never seemed to be uite of this world.

Maybe in ten years ...

interestingly, the view in News seems to be totally different. They seem to think Greg let them down, whereas Production seem to feel News let the rest of us down. I agree with the latter.

Oh, but it's just been the shittiest of shitty days, really.

Not profound, that comment. But I can't do profound at the moment.

And no, I won't be applying for his job.

You're not wrong there - today one of the projects I'm working on, which has been the most damned and ill-fated things I've ever had to deal with in my life, finally staggered to public launch. And I didn't want to celebrate. And I certainly didn't want to be so crass as to send out a departmental wide email going "Never mind, we just launched X"
