Thanks for the thoughts. (And also to the many AIMers and emailers who said similar things).
I'm actually feeling a little less miserable about it now.
Fundamentally, I agree with you. I think I would have made a very good job of it. But I guess they found someone who would have made a better job of it. Or perhaps wanted to radically overhaul the world less than I did...
(So now all I have to do is work out if I can nab *their* old job! :-)
